Throwback to World Earth Day 2021

I can’t believe I didn’t have this Journal during World Earth Day, so I wanted to write up a retrospective of the event I organised in partnership with Salford City on Point.

World Earth Day is a global event, with over 1 billion participants worldwide. It encourages us to campaign for environmental protection, and is a catalyst for transformational change. Taken from their website, this quote help to summarise their ambition… “Every Earth Day can drive a year of energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to create a new plan of action for our planet”.

On Saturday 24th April 2021, we met on Worrall Street in Salford, just outside of the Bryonia studio to head out on a morning clean up with some amazing volunteers…

Organising the event

Planning & coordinating

Bryonia stands up strongly campaigning as an eco minded florist, using no floral foam or single use plastics, always working with natural & undyed flowers and offsetting our carbon footprint every month.

For these reasons and more, World Earth Day couldn’t pass me by, without some sort of campaign for change. I decided to impact the best way I knew how, locally & with the support of the amazing Manchester community.

Once I had reached out to Zak at Salford City on Point and made a plan for the day, we created an event for the litter pick and spread the word far and wide within the Salford area.

The wonderful volunteers

THANK YOU

To everyone who showed up on the day itself, thank you so much for volunteering your time and energies to impact change in our area.

I was in complete shock at the enthusiasm and support shown by the group, we managed to collect 19 bags of rubbish (and more) in the 2 hour window.

It was craziness how much we actually removed from the street, which was only an extremely small area.

Job well done

Time for a coffee and cake!

Such a rewarding way to spend World Earth Day and our Saturday mornings.

It was also an incredible way to connect with likeminded individuals and come together to affect change.

I honestly couldn’t have done it without you all!
